It has been my desire throughout to present fairly points of view with which I disagree, and to deal charitably with all in the midst of critical assessment. Undoubtedly the most problematical sections of the book are the eighth and ninth chapters, which argue for the possibility of a young universe. I do know enough to realize that I am far from having proven that point, and also, I believe that the rest of the book stands on its own, regardless of one’s assessment of theories concerning the antiquity
